Privacy Policy

1. Accounts

Most of DiggerPocket works without an account: searching, prices, the Atlas directory and contributing to it. An account is only needed for your collection and wantlist.

If you create one, we store the name you give us, your email address, and your password as a scrypt hash — never the password itself. A country, links and a profile photo are optional. You can sign out or delete the account from My Page; deleting it also deletes your collection and wantlist. Listings, reviews and photos you contributed to Atlas are not tied to your account and stay.

2. Photos You Take (Digger)

When you use "Search by Image," the photo is sent to a third-party AI service (via OpenRouter) to identify the record, and to third-party marketplaces (Discogs, eBay, CDandLP, MusicStack) and YouTube to fetch pricing and video results. The photo itself is processed in memory and is not saved on our servers.

We keep an anonymous log of the AI's guess versus your correction (artist/album names, plus a compact fingerprint of the photo used only to recognize a re-scan of the same or a very similar photo later — this fingerprint cannot be turned back into an image) to improve identification accuracy over time. This log cannot be traced back to you.

3. Search Text (Digger)

Artist/album names you search are sent to the third-party services listed above to fetch results. Your recent search history is stored only in your own browser (localStorage) and is never sent to or stored on our servers.

4. Listings You Submit (Atlas)

Atlas is an open, wiki-style directory. Any shop/bar name, address, description, or photo you submit is stored on our servers and displayed publicly, since that's the purpose of the directory. Don't submit anything you don't want shown publicly.

5. Analytics

DiggerPocket does not run ads. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate usage of the app — for example, how many people visit, which pages are popular, and how long visits last. Google Analytics may use cookies and collect information such as your approximate location (city/country level), device type, and browser. This data is used only in aggregate and is not used to identify you individually. If you're signed in, we also send Google Analytics an internal account ID (never your name or email) so we can count members rather than browsers — Google never receives anything that identifies you as a person. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles this data: https://policies.google.com/privacy

6. Third-Party Services

Digger integrates with Discogs, eBay, CDandLP, MusicStack, YouTube, and an AI service via OpenRouter. Atlas listing addresses may be geocoded via a mapping service. Each of these third parties has its own privacy policy governing data sent to them.

In particular, DiggerPocket's use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms), and information received through YouTube API Services is subject to the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). DiggerPocket does not require Google/YouTube sign-in and does not collect or store any personal YouTube account data — only public video metadata (video ID, title, channel name, thumbnail) needed to show a preview, which isn't tied to any user and so has nothing to delete.

7. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of DiggerPocket after a change means you accept the updated policy.
